Drive in Rack

Drive-in racking, as the name suggests, means that our forklift trucks can drive into the racking.

The advantage of drive-in racking is that there is no need for dedicated picking aisles to save warehouse space, and you can choose between FIFO and LIFO.

It is suitable for storing large quantities of goods in a single category, e.g. tobacco, food, etc.

Description

At HEDA, when you buy a drive-in rack, you can choose your putaway method: FIFO or LIFO.
For FIFO, we usually have 5-7 pallet positions per level.
For LIFO, we usually have 10-12 pallet positions per level.

What does HEDA do for you?

A drive-in rack is a high-density storage solution where pallets are stored back-to-back, allowing forklifts to drive directly into the rack’s rows, optimizing space.

Drive-in racks maximize warehouse space, offer high storage density, and are ideal for storing large quantities of similar products while providing efficient inventory management.

By allowing forklifts to enter the rack system, drive-in racks streamline loading and unloading processes, reduce aisle space requirements, and enhance overall storage capacity.

While drive-in racks excel for storing homogeneous products with low turnover rates, they may not be ideal for items requiring immediate access due to the last-in, first-out (LIFO) storage method.

Consider factors such as product turnover rate, space availability, forklift type, and operational needs. Consulting with experts ensures optimal rack configuration and usage.

Proper maintenance is crucial. Regular inspections for damages, ensuring load limits aren’t exceeded, and addressing wear and tear promptly can prolong rack lifespan and ensure safety.

Yes, many providers offer customizable drive-in rack solutions tailored to specific warehouse dimensions, ensuring optimal fit and functionality for diverse storage needs.
